Who are we?

In 1986, Rattan Chadha took his men’s brand ‘Moustache’ and women’s brand ‘Emanuelle’ and joined them together. Take the first letter of each and add two kisses: Mexx was born.

Who are we looking for?

As a Senior Designer working in the Womenswear Division you will take ownership of the Flatknit and jersey part of the collection. You have a lot of freedom and responsibility and are not afraid to show your creativity. You closely monitor and analyze market developments and you’re able to see opportunities and to respond with the most beautiful designs and collections. You will work closely with the other designers in the team, the technical design team, buying team, and the Head of Product womenswear for the planning and development of the seasonal collections. In addition, you feel at home in the speed and dynamics of a scale-up. As a colleague you are a positive and motivational member of the team.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Creating designs in various product groups from flatknit to jersey, from briefing, to concept and final design;
  • Take ownership of the entire design process together with the rest of the Design, Buying and Technical team;
  • Actively track and proactively Researching trends and performing market research that works into the Mexx brand strategy;
  • Translating trends into a commercial collection together with the other designers and Head of Product womenswear;
  • You will design and execute seasonal range plans for review;
  • Ownership of the design collections, colour proposals, artworks and tech packs;
  • Have a good eye for placement graphics and allover prints needed for your category;
  • Technical knowledge about Flatknits, yarns and knit techniques;
  • Preparing all selected and confirmed styles to be computerized and design sheets completed to a high standard for sending to suppliers or our offices globally;
  • Following up on selected fabrics, yarns and graphics each season;  
  • Working closely and communicate daily on issues and changes that arise from the development of designs selected with the team in the office next to suppliers and offices abroad;
  • You will also partner with the Technical designer and buyer to ensure a smooth work flow each season when executing each style;
  • Working closely with Tech Department for the executing of garment fittings.
  • Able to help find solutions to any problems that may come up in the fitting and development process;
  • Preparing design sheets and overviews of the collection each season for the Head of product and sales;
  • Developing and understanding of fabrics, yarns and washes and washes based on the Womenswear price range.

Requirements:

  • Completed HBO education in the direction of Fashion Design;
  • Minimum of 6-7 years  experience as a Designer in a similair position, experience in product development;
  • Technical knowledge of flatknit, fabrics and size specifications;
  • Excellent computer skills (Illustrator/Photoshop) & hand drawn skills;
  • PLM or similar programm knowledge is convenient;
  • You have an excellent command of the English language, both verbally and in writing, Dutch is a huge pre;
  • Flexible, accurate, structured, responsible and can work well under pressure.
  • Work as a true team player;
  • Be up-to-date with trends and market developments;
  • Living in the Netherlands or within driving distance of the border to office.
  • Ability to translate trends into a commercial collection with a contemporary handwriting;
  • Is able to work in a dynamic environment, work independently and has a hands on mentality.
